Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic, inflammatory skin disease that most often begins in childhood and may coexist with other atopic diseases (food allergies, bronchial asthma, allergic rhinitis). Eczematous skin lesions with age-related location, accompanied by intense pruritus and lichenification are the most characteristic features.
